Meet the Owner
Lily Caywood, M.S., CCC-SLP

I live in Eagle, ID with my husband, my son (not even a year yet!), and my two Vizslas.  We love to spend time outside hiking and camping, which makes this a wonderful place to live!  I also enjoy cooking, catching up with friends, or reading a good book.  I look forward to meeting you and your family!

My Background and Philosophy

I started New Heights in the summer of 2016 after working in private practice and school settings.  I always knew I had the passion and drive to be an independent therapist and business owner, and it was important to me to make services more accessible to communities with less access to speech therapy.  I have a master’s degree in speech-language pathology and hold the certificate of clinical competence provided by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.  I'm also PROMPT trained (PROMPT stands for Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) by the Prompt Institute.  I’ve worked with clients from 14 months to 75+ years old, and I’ve worked with a wide range of disorders and diagnoses.

I decided to become a speech-language pathologist when a dear friend of mine was in a car accident and required therapy to regain the ability to speak.  I saw the challenges she had to overcome and how speech therapy granted access to herself and her life before the accident.  Throughout my education, I learned that every individual deserves the right to communicate in a way that allows them to live and participate in this world as fully as possible.  There is nothing more rewarding than when parents see and hear their child first communicate, or when a child is able to produce a new sound that he/she was not able to produce before to be better understood.

My philosophy toward therapy is to really treat each person on an individual, case by case basis.  Some children require a loud, silly therapist to become engaged while others require a more calming and sensitive approach.  It’s my job to learn your child and adjust my teaching style and strategies as necessary, so that he/she can actively participate in the process and make as much progress as possible.  I love to utilize a variety of tools in my sessions (technology, art, music, games, writing, role play, etc.), as each child learns differently.  My goal is to take my clients to new heights and help them achieve the skills they need to be successful communicators in all environments!

Testimonials:

"You Changed Her Life"

"I just wanted to say thank you for what you did for [my daughter].  She is a freshman now.  She is taking advanced classes and making frequent presentations with confidence that she never had before.  You changed her life.  You will always be special to us.  Words cannot express how a mom feels when her child is sad or hurting, nor can she ever properly express her appreciation to the one who can fix it.  Thank you a million times!" - Maria L.

"Knowledgeable in Various Techniques"

When we first met Miss Lily, she only worked with one of my sons.  She did such a great job by giving him strategies to overcome stuttering.  When we found out she was opening her own business, it was a no brainer to bring my other children, so they could work with her too.  Lily is very knowledgeable in various techniques to overcome speech difficulties.  She works with my children who have a language delay, Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), and a severe stutter.  I would recommend Lily to anyone!" - Anne B.

"Excited for Speech Therapy"

New Heights speech therapy service has changed and improved the lives of my two boys who have struggled with expressive and receptive language delay. My boys are excited for speech therapy and eager to engage in mastering new material. Lily is perceptive, insightful and a delight to have on our team of professionals. I highly recommend New Heights for any parent/child in search of a caring, bright, talented speech/language provider. - Tricia E.
