If you’re not familiar with the practice, New Heights is a private pediatric speech therapy clinic located in Star, serving families in Star, Middleton, Emmett, and West Meridian and Eagle.  The clinic provides therapy in all areas associated with pediatric speech, language, and communication, which also includes tongue thrust therapy, alternative and augmentative communication, and skills associated with executive functioning and problem solving.

We are very passionate about early intervention and language stimulation in late talkers.  We have found that when we see an 18-24-month-old who is not yet talking, the child makes faster gains and requires much less therapy than when we see a child who is 30-36 months old and still not using language to communicate.  When a child cannot effectively communicate at two years old, there is a significant increase in frustration for the child and the parents.  We also specialize in communication development in young children diagnosed with Autism.  Parents are invited to join in every single therapy session, which provides teaching, coaching, and feedback opportunities.  We employ a variety of therapeutic techniques to stimulate language in natural play and provide language rich environments to include books and early literacy activities.

We are PROMPT trained (PROMPT is an acronym for PROMPTS for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets), which is a multidimensional approach to speech production disorders that embraces not only the well-known physical-sensory aspects of motor performance, but also its cognitive-linguistic and social-emotional aspects.  This is an additional tool we utilize when working with articulation and phonological speech disorders, as well as Childhood Apraxia of Speech.  We have had high rates of success improving intelligibility in children with severe speech disorders, because we look at all aspects of the speech production system and analyze patterns not usually detected by standardized testing.

New Heights provides individualized therapy and truly cares about your child.  We are here to offer services, as well as support, education, and an environment for your child to succeed.
